Driving through the Missouri Riverbottoms, there are farms and farmland everywhere you look. Farmers must be the greatest optimists there are -- each year they plant their crops, knowing that floods, driving rain, high winds or hail could take it all away...but they plant and tend it anyway. It's who they are.

As a farm wife and mother-of-two, Cricket Hackmann's love of photography began with documenting her children's days...and has expanded to become a means of holding on to a piece of all the beauty that surrounds us.
