We often don't get what we want at Christmas, and it's a time to accept disappointment. The idea for this painting came to me when I recalled my dog asking me to carry her over icy patches in the woods. Then I remembered an emotionally challenging trip with some family members and their dog. It can be a metaphor for life's journey as well. Sometimes, there is nothing to say, so you just stick together and keep trudging forward.
