A lone oak leaf floats on the surface of the Three Mile River in stark contrast to the dark tree reflection behind it in this fine art black and white photograph taken by Dave Gordon at the Gertrude M. Boyden Wildlife Refuge in Taunton, MA.
Along the edge of the Three Mile River, the fog is lifting. Illuminated by the morning light, trees are reflected on the stillness of the river's surface in this fine art blck landscape photograph taken at Gertrude M. Boyden Wildlife Reguge by Dave Gordon.

A Sculptural Autumn by Kathy K. McClellan is a photographic image created for Day 305 of the 365 Challenge (Journal 2022).
As I drove along the Natchez Trace Parkway in Southern Tennessee (USA) on a late October afternoon, I couldn't help but notice this tree. The branches became more numerous and more curvy as the tree stretched high into the sky.
The brilliant color of the leaves was a stark contrast to the dark bark of the tree trunk and branches.
Towering over all the other trees, this specimen stood out from all the others, tall and sculptural.

Sunset at Marco Island, Florida, on September 19, 2022. Beautiful light on the clouds and waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The clouds are lit from the bath by golden-yellow light and the clouds are orange and red across the bottom near the water. The water is reflecting lit from the clouds and sun and the sky is light blue. Beautiful scene.

https://fineartamerica.com/featured/highway-and-hydro-poles-andrew-wilson.html
We drove through the Tablelands in Newfoundland's Gros Morne National Park on a foggy wet day. Dark clouds hung over us. The flat highway, with hills and low-lying mountains on each side, stretched out ahead to a vanishing point. Hydro poles lined the road and receded into the mist. The highway was wet from earlier rain.
The gloomy day favored a low key black and white treatment to the image.

"Harris Hawk Take-Off" by Patti Deters. This beautiful Harris Hawk (Parabuteo unicinctus) had just landed on this tree branch and then immediately decided to take-off again. Also known as bay-winged hawk, dusky hawk, or peucoI, I was lucky to capture this amazing bird with her wings outstretched. Harris Hawks are more social than other raptors and can often be seen hunting cooperatively in groups. The vibrant russet or rust colored feathers with black accents also make this one of the more striking and easy to identify falcons. "Two Trumpeter Swans Say Hello" by Patti Deters. Two Trumpeter Swans (Cygnus buccinator) interact as if greeting each other, perhaps discussing the weather on this cold winter day. The morning light and wispy mist on the river makes for a very pretty scene of these two beautiful white birds. Swans are one of the largest waterfowl and can be found in Wisconsin year round, even in winter, especially near open water. Photographed on the St. Croix River near Hudson, WI. If you like outdoor nature photography, please see more avian and other wildlife at patti-deters.pixels.com.

The old oak glows in the darkness
It's an October evening in nature. the sun has just set and everything around is starting to fall into darkness. I am late from my walking in the fields so I am hurrying back home. Suddenly right in front of me, just at the point where the three forest paths cross, I see this beautiful old big oak tree in all its glory. Almost all I see is very dark except its large treetop and especially one big branch that stands up with shiny golden autumn leaves. It's like it is collecting the last pieces of light from the sky to light my way. It is really a nice sight and I would stay for a while but I hear jackals howling in the distance so I really have to hurry. I am taking shot very fast and move on my way leaving the old oak in its solitude.

Wine Lovers Holiday Tree by Kathy K. McClellan is an image created for Day 335 of the 365 Challenge (Journal 2022).
The red background in this image contrasts with the pale wine corks stacked up in the shape of a Christmas tree.
The wine cork tree is then topped off with a cork from a bottle of sparkling wine.

Elegant Snake-eyed Skink
This tiny skink measures only 41mm and can be found in trees and on rocks in eastern Australia. It is striped with black, brown and pale stripes. In the image we only see its head as it is hiding between the layers of bark on a tree, in ambush for prey like small insects. It is very well camouflaged!
Taken in south-east Queensland, Australia.

My 4th version of Abbie Shores' Edit Challenge 68. I'll call this one Edit challenge 68d. If I decide to enter this one I'll have to remove one of my other versions first.
In this version, I started by cropping the bottom portion, extending the top, and sides. I then added a female buried in the sand on the beach up to her waist. There is the shape of a mermaid created from the sand on the surface over her legs. As I progressed, I started getting more ideas to add story and interest.
I remembered that I captured a photographer's assistant and some photography equipment a couple of years ago at Sandy Point State Park. I copied and pasted some of those things. I also added a tripod with a digital camera and a smart-phone camera fixed to it. I copied and pasted the mermaid model onto the viewing display of the cameras. I made the whole scene lighter and added some needed vibrancy.
The original photo was donated for editing by Grace Carpenter. Thank you Grace!
