Ok all you camera buffs, (if money is no issue), what new camera would be worth buying and why.

Probably for the first time in my life I can honestly say, none. I'm happy with what I have.

No idea. Would have to do the research. Last I looked nothing impressed me enough to lug around something. What I have works, and since there are no pictures to be taken right now, its not worth looking.

A Canon R5 or R6 with a lens kit (lighter lenses) as a workhorse and a Leica Q2 for artistic work

If I could also afford a sherpa, A Fujifilm GFX100 with appropriate lenses. Since I can't afford the sherpa (or the camera or lenses, for that matter), I'll stick with the Sony system. Happy with my A7R IVs. They just released the A7R V, but I don't see a real need to upgrade to that one.

Since I had the Canon 7d Mark II since 2016, time to upgrade, so looking to get the EOS R7.
I'm not a gadget guy that needs all the different cameras or all the lenses, but I am looking forward to see what improvements this one has.

Without a doubt it would be the Nikon Z9.

Lots of interesting suggestions above, but remember, its the person operating the camera that takes great photos, expensive equipment alone is not sufficient to produce great photography.

I have been very happy with my Nikon D750. A few weeks ago, a Nikon Z9 showed up at my door. I haven't had much time to go play with the Z9.

Money no object?
Phase one IQ3 with every darned lens supported by it. It a wee bit o money..
I’d totally settle with a Nikon Z9 though.

Any camera at all that's name begins with an L, ends with an A, and is made in Germany. Other than that I'm not picky. I can provide my address if you like =)

Well, you guys know what you like...lol. David, the Hasselblad H2D 100C has to be the ultimate, but who would want to lug that camera around?
Susan, Sony doesn't begin with an "L"...lol. You know, there was another Germany camera I used to love. Contax with Carl Zeiss glass.
Philip, I totally agree with you.
Mike, doesn't need a camera right now. Abbie wants a camera. Mike, why don't you send her yours (since you aren't using it)?
Rick, just stick with Sony.

I'd love to get en Eclair NPR, so I could upgrade my Krasnogorsk-3 to a more quiet camera. Can't find a good one under $5k.

I'm still using it. I just don't feel like spending $4000 on a new camera and lens.

If money were no object, I'd probably go for a Nikon Z9 or Canon's equivalent of that. But since money is an object, I'm currently looking at the Canon EOS RP. Full frame mirrorless, but the body is a bit smaller than most, and it's also cheaper.

I like my pink poloroid camera... I think it just needs new film, I hope that's all that's wrong with it... all the photo attempts (with my film that expired a few years ago or so) had a black smudgy line, and no image developed whatsoever. :( But it's a special camera, my parents gave it to me when my dad was still alive. I wish I had used up all the film in time; I was trying to "conserve" film. Don't do that, good people! :) Take advantage of film before it expires. ;) Each new day has fresh opportunities to catch the beauty of nature on film. :)

No, it doesn't Bill =)
The only film camera that isn't a Polaroid that I still own is my old Yashica Rudy. I won't be shooting on film again until I stumble upon a Leica at a garage sale.

I may have mentioned it in past post but I am an amateur photographer. I'm at the stage now where I can't get exited about taking another picture of a sunset/sunrise, fall colors, landscapes/seascapes, clouds, lighthouse, tree, flower, building, bridges, etc. etc. AND today's technology is at the point where even phone camera shots have enough image quality to make decent size prints. Unfortunately, phone cameras have too many limitations for me.
My next camera is going to be an ultra zoom (say 24-400mm+) with a minimum 1" sensor for image quality (~20mp) and decent video that is small enough for me carry in my pocket all the time. No bag, no lenses, no tripods, no filters. Example Sony RX-100 VII or Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS100. Haven't decided yet.

Really would love a drone for 2023 - DJI Mini 3 Pro as a starter kit would probably be on my wish list.
I wouldn't mind upgrading to full frame Sony from my A6400, but not willing to buy any more lenses ;) So that's a no go.

Thought about it and I changed my mind
instead of another fancy one, I rather have a few hundred or whatever cheap ones that I can give away to anybody who wants one like high school kids from low income families

I've just upgraded my APS-C system to the new Fujifilm X-T5. My main camera is a GFX100s so between the two I'm pretty much sorted for the foreseeable.

I'm with Rudy...I'd rather give away a lot of inexpensive cameras.
Have you ever seen Born Into Brothels? https://topdocumentaryfilms.com/born-into-brothels/
It had a huge impact on me.

I would like a NEW, factory new, Nikon 5200. and new glass. I'm too old to try to learn a new anything - much less a camera. FIRST things first - I'd like a NEW PC and a new 17" laptop. "MONEY" is the object. :-)

Peggy - Thanks for that tip! Never seen that documentary, but it's on top of my list now!
I am involved with a charity called "Bridge to Hope" and besides being a food pantry, they also have programs for kids who can use some help in other parts of their life. I think I am going to talk to them about this.
Thanks Bill for starting this thread and thanks Peggy for the W40, so to speak, to get my brain gears back in motion. Instead of wishing for a $10K piece of metal, plastic, and glass, this is a much better idea and the fruits might last longer to boot.

Rudy, you are very welcome...and thank you for mentioning Bridge to Hope. I'm going to check it out.

It would be a 50 megapixel version of the camera in my iPhone, with better optics. The optics in my phone are good, but as long as I'm shooting for the moon, I might as well go for that and more pixels.....a great camera that fits in my pocket. I have no attachment to a big bag full of camera stuff.
That would probably be my fantasized iPhone camera....small, easy to transport, but a lot of detail and dynamics. I'm amazed at the quality that I get from my phone already considering that the camera part is about the size of a lima bean, so an amped up version of that would be my holy photo grail. I don't like fooling around with lenses, filters, etc and don't like the very conspicuous bag full of stuff so a $1500 iPhone with a better camera would be a must for me.

Doug,
Yes, and much safer when traveling, just carrying a phone....ubiquitous....unlike a camera bag that says CANON! LOL!

I remember when I was shooting with a Kodak 2 meg camera and making 20 meg images for print.
Now it seems if you buy a 50 or 100 meg camera, you would have to downsize to be able to put an image online.
How far we have come.

>>>That's interesting. I've used clip-on lenses on my iPhone that had a single lens (they worked pretty well), but I have not seen an equivalent for the multi lens phones. Unfortunately, however, Apple is still going with 12 megapixels which, I'm sure is fine for the 95% of their market that doesn't consist of photo-geeks.

I seem to be among those who doesn't use a cell phone for capturing beauty.
Ok, now the choices for Christmas are:
1. Hasselblad X2D.
2. Aprillia RS660
If money's no object, I'll take the James Webb , please
Make it two, then I can get a 3D sorta thing going..

I am leaning to the Aprilia for Christmas. Why? What......money no problem and you are NOT getting the best digital camera?????
Well, I also no longer have my Epson 7800 printer AND my software is kaput, so what good would a $10,000 camera be?
