Description
The first "talkie" feature film debuted in 1927. In the 95 years since then, the cinema has captured the hearts and minds of everyone on the planet and built some of the largest media empires. But it all started with the classics. There's a reason why, exactly 50 years later, The Godfather is still listed as one of the greatest movies of all time, and falls on the top of many people's favorites pile. How about The Wizard of Oz or The Sound of Music as among the most beloved musicals that continue to be culturally relevant; in memes, in sounds we hum to ourselves, in universes created out of them. Anyone seen Wicked? What about those that still haunt our dreams? Psycho, The Birds, Alfred Hitchcock's famous films that continue to inspire and creep out. How about Flight to Mars, or 1984? This is straight from the Hollywood archives, people. From The Fly to Breakfast at Tiffany's, these posters were the first way that moviegoers in the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond actually learned about the latest film, the newest starlet, and how to plan their Friday nights.
