Artist's Description

YOU TOO CAN COMMISSION MIKE TO PAINT YOUR VERY OWN ORIGINAL OF YOUR FAVOURITE STEAM LOCOMOTIVE EITHER BRITISH OR AMERICAN, A SOUND INVESTMENT FROM WHOM MANY REGARD AS BRITAIN'S LEADING TRANSPORT ARTIST. JUST E-MAIL mike@transportartist.co.uk

In a scene so typical of the Great Western Railway in its heyday on one of its many sleepy little branch lines in the Westcountry before harsh economics doomed them a Collett 0.4.2T hauls a local stopping train consisting of a push and pull set of carriages. At the end of the branch line the driver would leave the cab and drive the train back from a position at the back of the train where a set of controls linked to the locomotive were located leaving the fireman in the cab to tend the fire.

Commission a painting like this of your favourite locomotive, British or American in oils on canvas.

About Mike Jeffries

Mike Jeffries

COMMISSION A PAINTING FROM MIKE. It is with great regret that I have to inform you that Mike sadly passed away November 2020 aged 81, but I, (his partner) will keep his shop here going and am happy to reply to any emails you might send to his own email address at mike@transportartist.co.uk. Virtually nobody considered the humble lorry worthy of the subject of a painting until Mike made it so. Years of being at the sharp end of long distance HGV driving has given him an insight and knowledge into the industry that enables Mike to depict lorries as they really were in the past and not the idealized view of the less knowledgeable making him the man to paint an original of your favourite commercial vehicle. He is without a doubt THE lorry...
