Artist's Description

This new 2021 painting is my version of the famous southern Narragansett Lighthouse on one stormy hurricane type day. I was pleased with how the brushwork came out. I also tried to infuse aggressive brush strokes to project a frenzied wind and turbulence. Hope you enjoy!

Matthew Stuart

I was born and raised in southern Rhode Island. I have been working in the "real world" for 25 years and recently started painting again. My artwork has been displayed throughout New England in galleries and shows. I am the winner of a congressional art award which was for my colored pencil drawing of "Autumn Leaves 1987". This piece was displayed in congress for a year. I am also a graduate of The New England School of Art & Design (Boston MA.1993) Majoring in graphic design and illustration with a minor in photography. My most common medium of choice recently is acrylics on canvas. Recently having melanoma cancer and a brain tumor (10/23) I have been reflecting on my work made while I was sick for over a year.
