Wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus) are a species of large antelope that are part of the 800 km circular, seasonal migration from Serengeti to the South, and back. The females synchronize their calving to a 3 week window during the rainy season in February and March, with their calves on their feet within minutes of birth.
This photograph was taken of the migration, with thousands of Wildebeest visible to the naked eye on the open grasslands on 1-16-2016. I used a Nikon D810 camera body and a Nikon 500mm f/4 vr2 lens to capture this image.
